Leather Inlay Bookcover Design

The symbol of american money and power. This was done on speculation but is an example of the range of imagery that can be created on a book with leather inlay.

I do leather inlay book cover design for commission. Almost any design or idea can be implemented. My particular style lends itself to extreme flexibility. I can adapt any image or sketch.

A good deal of my leather inlay book cover designs are taken from an image from within the book. Irish Melodies is an example of that.

The original image was taken from a photocopied page from within the book. It was copied almost exactly

I can draw from any source. In this particular instance I drew from an old book cover to create a cover for an album. The result was an almost exact likeness. Therefore life portraits are a possibility, for the cover of a magazine style wedding album, for example.

Beware The Lady was a photo album done for a friend

Marilyn was done on the cover of an ordinary regular edition book on the life of Marilyn Monroe. A suitable image from the book was chosen.

Commissions are considered on an individual basis. I work with the client to agree on a suitable design. It all depends on the book as to what work is needed. Some books are already bound in leather and in good condition and the inlay can be put directly into the existing cover.

Often a new binding and leather cover is needed. Books not bound in leather can be rebound in leather. Albums, ledgers, etc, are often made from scratch by me and covered in leather ready for the inlay. It all depends on what you have and what you want done.
