Leather Inlay Bookcover Design

Leather inlay is the technique of inlaying pieces of leather and other materials of different color and texture into the cover of a leather bound book to create a design or picture.

Leather inlay is not a new technique. It is done to varying degrees all over the world by skilled bookbinders. I have, in some part, reinvented it to suit my own style. When I produce a book, it is both as a piece of art in it's own right and as a functional, working, unique book that can be read and enjoyed.

I am a working artist and bookbinder. I bind books in the regular style, but it is with leather inlay that my love and passion lay. On the pages that follow I have displayed the many books I have done.

I hope you enjoy these pages. They are a running record of my work to date. Leather inlay is for me, what it is all about.
