About Us

Hello. My name is Georgia Carter. Please allow me to tell you a little about BlueOwl and myself.

BlueOwl currently is comprised of a staff of one, namely me, and I can thus say that all the staff here at BlueOwl are one hundred percent committed to producing the highest quality and value-for-money bookbinding services possible.

I have been a bookbinder since 1998. It has always been my dream to have my own bindery. In March 2004 I purchased the machinery needed for a workshop. In April 2004 BlueOwl Bookbinding opened it's door in Katoomba. Since then I have provided a quality service to the Blue Mountains and Sydney metropolitan area. In time I hope to service the rest of the world via the Internet.

Purpose

The basic purpose of BlueOwl Bookbinding is to provide a quality hand bookbinding service to the local and greater Sydney Metropolitan Area. This has now been achieved.

I have all the basic equipment I need, including a Marshall Blocking Press and electric guillotine.

My major and ongoing goal is to further create and market my Magazine Style Wedding Albums and portfolios. These are great products for discerning and demanding people. This is well on the way to being achieved as more and more people becoming aware of the product.

But what really excites me and gets me out of bed in the morning is the opportunity to do leather inlay book cover design.

I spent several years developing this technique and work constantly to improve and develop it further. Leather inlay book cover design is my art form. I am working on a portfolio. I have my own style but I also do commission work of any style and character. I can reproduce or adapt almost any image or design for a cover.

I'm constantly pushing the boundaries of my work and I look forward to challenging commissions. I like to think I offer something nobody else does. As far as I know my work is unique. Please avail yourself of it.
